The Analysis

What we actually check on every card

This isn't a quick glance. Every card gets the same multi-step evaluation regardless of value.

Detection

UV / Black Light

Reveals recoloring, chemical cleaning, surface restoration, and trimmed edges. If someone has worked on a card, the black light will show it.

3D Surface Scan

Topographical scan at high magnification catches micro-scratches, print lines, roller marks, and surface dimples that impact the grade.

Evaluation

Centering

Precise measurement of border width on all four sides, calculated as a percentage. You'll know the exact ratio and whether it passes.

Corners

All four corners examined under magnification for wear, rounding, dings, and paper loss. The most common reason cards lose points.

Edges

Full perimeter inspection for chipping, roughness, nicks, and whitening under magnification and side-lighting.

Surface

Print quality, scratches, staining, wax marks, and defects on both front and back. Where the 3D scan adds the most value.

How to pack your cards

Good packing protects your investment. Here's what we need from you.

Do

  1. Penny sleeve each card, then into a top loader or card saver.
  2. Tape across the top loader opening — not on the card.
  3. Bundle top loaders with a rubber band or painter's tape.
  4. Use a small box, not a padded envelope. Cards bend in envelopes.
  5. Fill empty space with bubble wrap or crumpled paper.
  6. Include a note with your order number and card list.
  7. Ship USPS Priority Mail with tracking — or ask about our prepaid label.

Don't

  • Ship in a regular envelope or padded mailer — cards will arrive damaged.
  • Put tape directly on top loaders where it contacts the card.
  • Ship without tracking — we can't help find lost packages.
  • Send cards without sleeves or loose in a box.
